Väitöskirjatutkija (MEMO-projekti) lääketieteen ja biotieteiden tiedekuntaan/ Fixed-term Doctoral Researcher at the Faculty of Medicine and Life Sciences

Lääketieteen ja biotieteiden tiedekunnassa, modulaarisen solukasvatusjärjestelmän epilepsiamallinnusprojektissa  on haettavana vuoden määräaikainen väitöskirjatutkijan tehtävä. Tehtävän suunniteltu aloitusajankohta on 3.4.2018. Tehtävä saattaa jatkua vuoden määräajan jälkeen.

Tehtävä:

Väitöskirjatutkijan tehtävänä on osallistuminen modulaarisen epilepsiamallin kehittämiseen.

Edellytykset:

Hakijalta edellytämme soveltuvaa maisterin tutkintoa tutkimusteemaan liittyvältä relevantilta alalta. Opinnot mm. kantasolu- ja kudosteknologiassa, biomateriaalitieteissä ja neurotieteissä katsotaan eduksi, mutta eivät ole välttämättömiä.

Palkkaus:

Tehtävän palkkaus määräytyy yliopistojen opetus- ja tutkimushenkilöstön palkkausjärjestelmän mukaisesti. Tehtävän alustava vaativuustaso on 2. Lisäksi maksetaan henkilökohtaiseen suoriutumiseen perustuvaa palkanosaa, joka on enintään 46,3 % tehtäväkohtaisesta palkanosasta. Tyypillisesti väitöskirjatutkijan palkka on työsuhteen alussa n. 2000 – 2300 €.

Tehtävää täytettäessä käytetään neljän kuukauden koeaikaa.

Modular platform for epilepsy modeling in vitro (MEMO) consortium project started in September 2017 and is funded by Academy of Finland. Memo consortium members are: Susanna Narkilahti (UTA, consortium leader), Pasi Kallio (TUT) and Jukka Lekkala (TUT).

The MEMO consortium project focuses on development of in vitro epilepsy model for studying disease mechanisms, testing of neurotoxic compounds, drug development and screening and development of diagnostic tools for personalized medicine. The aim is to create an in vitro disease model for epilepsy that includes “epileptic” neuronal cell networks cultured under stabile conditions in a modular platform by combining integrated sensors, electrode arrays, cell guiding structures and microfluidistics.

Position:

Doctoral Researcher position for development of in vitro model for epilepsy (MEMO). This task studies how epileptic phenomena can be induced, spread and controlled in two-dimensional platform.

Requirements:

For position, you must have a master degree in a field relevant to the research programme. Studies in fields such as stem cells and tissue engineering, biomaterials, neuroscience are of advance, but not necessary.

Salary:

The salary will be based on the demand level chart for the teachers and researchers of the Finnish Universities. The preliminary level of demand is 2. In addition to the basic salary, supplementary salary will be paid according to the personal performance, the sum rising to a maximum of 46.3 % of the basic salary level for the post. The starting salary of a Doctoral Researcher is about 2,000–2,300 EUR/ month.

Four-month trial period applies for the appointed person.
