Haku aukeaa 2.10.2017 ja päättyy 31.10.2017 klo 15.45, johon mennessä sähköinen hakulomake liitteineen tulee olla tallennettuna.

Viestintätieteiden tiedekunnassa voi suorittaa filosofian tohtorin tutkinnon (FT), yhteiskuntatieteiden tohtorin tutkinnon (YTT) ja teatteritaiteen tohtorin tutkinnon (TeT).

Opinto-oikeutta haetaan tohtoriohjelmaan ja pääaineeseen. Hakukohteet ovat:

  • Informaatiotutkimuksen ja interaktiivisen median tohtoriohjelma (pääaine: informaatiotutkimus ja interaktiivinen media)
  • Kielten tohtoriohjelma (pääaineet: englantilainen filologia, pohjoismaiset kielet, saksan kieli ja kulttuuri, suomen kieli, venäjän kieli ja kulttuuri, käännöstiede (englanti, ruotsi, saksa, venäjä)). Ranskan kielen tai käännöstiede (ranskan) pääaineeseen ei oteta uusia tohtoriopiskelijoita vuonna 2017.
  • Kirjallisuustieteen tohtoriohjelma (pääaineet: Suomen kirjallisuus, yleinen kirjallisuustiede)
  • Viestinnän, median ja teatterin tohtoriohjelma (pääaineet: journalistiikka, kulttuurintutkimus, mediakasvatus, mediatutkimus, musiikintutkimus, puheviestintä, teatterin ja draaman tutkimus sekä teatterityö)
  • Vuorovaikutteisen teknologian tohtoriohjelma (pääaine: vuorovaikutteinen teknologia)

 Hakemukseen liitetään:

Muualla kuin Tampereen yliopiston viestintätieteiden tiedekunnassa korkeakoulututkintonsa suorittaneiden tulee lisäksi liittää hakemukseensa:

  • valokopiot kandidaatin ja maisterin tutkintojen tutkintotodistuksista ja opintorekisteriotteista
  • todistusjäljennökset muista mahdollisista korkeakouluopinnoista

Ulkomailla korkeakoulututkintonsa suorittaneiden tulee katsoa tarkemmat ohjeet englanninkielisestä hakuilmoituksesta, joka löytyy sivulta alempaa.

Hakemuksen liitteet liitetään sähköiseen hakulomakkeeseen, joka löytyy englanninkielisen tekstin jälkeen linkistä ”jätä hakemus”. Hakemuslomake on englanninkielinen. Sen voi kuitenkin täyttää myös suomen tai ruotsin kielellä ja kaikki liitteet voivat olla suomeksi tai ruotsiksi.

Liitteitä varten on käytössä kymmenen kohtaa, joten tarvittaessa skannaathan useamman dokumentin samaan tiedostoon. Huom! yhden liitteen maksimikoko: 5mb.

Huom! Yliopistojen jatkotutkintoja eli lisensiaatin ja tohtorin tutkintoja koskee yhden korkeakoulupaikan sääntö. Voit ottaa vastaan samana lukukautena alkavasta koulutuksesta vain yhden korkeakoulututkintoon johtavan opiskelupaikan.

Tohtoriopintojen opiskeluoikeuksien syksyn 2017 haun viimeinen tulosten julkistamispäivä on 15.12.2017. Tämän jälkeen hakijoille lähetetään tieto valintapäätöksestä ja alkaa opiskelupaikan vastaanottoaika, joka päättyy 9.1.2018 klo 15.00. Hyväksytyt lähettävät paikan vastaanottolomakkeen osoitteeseen: Hakijapalvelut, 33014 Tampereen yliopisto (Käyntiosoite: Kalevantie 4, 33100 TAMPERE) tai paikan voi ottaa vastaan sähköisesti verkkopankkitunnuksilla. Paikan vastaanottamatta jättäminen määräajassa johtaa opiskelupaikan menetykseen.

Applying for a doctoral study right at the Faculty of Communication Sciences

The application period starts on the 2nd of October and ends on the 31st of October at 15.45 (local time). Please make sure that your application and enclosures are saved before the application period ends.

At the Faculty of Communication Sciences, it is possible to complete the degrees of Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Social Sciences, and the Doctor of Arts.

The doctoral study right is granted to a doctoral programme and a major subject. You may apply for one of the following:

  • Doctoral programme in Communication, media and theatre (majors: Cultural Studies, Journalism, Media Education, Media Studies, Music Research, Speech Communication, Theatre and Drama Research and Theatre Work (acting)).
  • Doctoral programme in Information Studies and Interactive Media (major: information studies and interactive media)
  • Doctoral programme in Interactive Technology (major: interactive technology)
  • Doctoral programme in Language Studies (majors: English Philology, Scandinavian Languages, German Language and Culture, Finnish Language, Russian Language and Culture, Translation Studies (English, Swedish, German or Russian)). In 2017, there is no admission to French Language or Translation Studies (French).
  • Doctoral programme in Literary Studies (major: Finnish Literature and Comparative Literature)

In addition, applicants who have not graduated from the Faculty of Communication Sciences or its predecessors must enclose the following documents:

  • photocopies of Bachelor’s and Master’s degree certificates and their authorised translations in English, and transcripts of records (i.e. courses taken, grades and credits received) and their authorised translations in English. A syllabus of the Master studies must be submitted too. If you have completed your Master's degree in a Finnish university after 1995, a photocopy of your Master's degree certificate and transcript of records are enough.
  • a reliable account that the applicant’s previous degree grants eligibility for doctoral studies in the country where that previous degree was completed
  • copy of your Master's thesis (full copy in English or as arranged with your supervisor, in another language, and a synopsis in English)
  • international applicants must provide a reliable account of his or her English language proficiency (see “Practical information on applying”). Applicants of the doctoral programme in Language Studies must hold a Master’s degree or have completed advanced studies in the field corresponding to the intended major.

Please write your language test score and the date it was taken in the “Additional information” box on the application form.

UTA has country-specific requirements for applicants with a previous degree from certain countries. The enclosures of degrees from these countries must be submitted to the Faculty of Communication Sciences (Ms. Elisa Laatikainen) as requested in the country-specific requirements.

You may also fill out the application form in Swedish, if that is your first language.

Please note: There are ten slots available for enclosures, please scan several documents together so that they will suffice. Maximum size of enclosure: 5mb.

Please also note: A person accepted at a Finnish university or a polytechnic may accept only one study place in a degree programme leading to a higher education degree during one academic term.

The admissions results for the autumn 2017 application round for doctoral studies will be announced on 15 December 2017 at the latest. All applicants will be informed about the admissions results. Accepted applicants will receive a letter of acceptance and a confirmation form, which is to be delivered to the University of Tampere by 9 January 2018 at 3 p.m. at the latest. The confirmation form is to be returned to University of Tampere Admissions Office, FI-33014 University of Tampere, FINLAND (Visiting address: Kalevantie 4, 33100 TAMPERE) or you may confirm your study place electronically for which you will receive instructions in the acceptance letter. If the confirmation has not arrived by the date indicated above, the applicant will lose their right to enrol in the degree programme.
